Reflection:
I am learning about Flora and Fauna, so we went to Tiritiri Matangi Island.
I was able to identify some common birds found at Tiritiri Matangi.

Telling And Mesuring Time

I am learning to tell and mesure time.
I was able to know the difference between am and pm.
I found it hard to understand 24 hour time.
Next time I will work on 24 hour time and try to understand it.

The Haunted House

I am learning to write a paragraph with a DASH?
I was able to write a paragraph using a lot of different adjectives.
I found it easy to describe the action.
Next time I will try pick a harder picture to write about.

The Young Eco-leaders Awards

Reflection:
I am learning to identify different uses of colloquial language.
I was able to make a sentenence with the words "interjections" and "ambitious".
I found this easy to understand the meaning of the colloquial language that they talk about.
My next step is to try to understand harder colloquial language in the text.

Recognise Decimal Fractions

I am learning to recognise my decimal fractions.
I was able to put my decimal number, fraction(mixed fraction) and word name in order.
I found this easy to understand where to put each of the numbers.
My next step is to do a harder decimal activity.

Authors Purpose

Reflection:
I am learning to understand what the authors purpose is in the story How The Kiwi Saved The Forest.
I was able to understand what the authors purpose was.
I found it easy to use the PEEL structure to write a paragraph about the authors purpose.
My next step is to do harder and more better work.

Pest Free Classroom Poster

Reflection:
I am learning to make a pest free poster so our class can be pest free!
I was able to make a pest free poster with conditions on how to make a pest free class!
I found this easy to type the conditions on how to make our classroom pest free!
My next step is to try give people a test and see if they follow our pest free conditions.

Pronouns

I am learning to identify pronouns.
I was able to use suitable pronouns in a sentence.
I found it easy to identify the pronouns in a sentence.
My next step is to try identify adverbs.

Travel Itinerary

Kensuke's Kingdom( Chapter 1)

Reflection:

I am learning to answer the questions after reading a chapter.
I was able to tell lots of synonyms.
I found it hard to understand the vocabulary.
Next time I will try be more descriptive when I answer the questions.

Proper Nouns

Worm Tea Poster

Reflection:
I am learning to make a persuading worm tea poster.
I was able to use a metaphor in one of the boxes.
I found it easy to describe the worm tea in a persuading way.
My next step is to add more persuading opinions and facts about the worm tea.

Converting Fractions

Reflection:
I am learning to convert proper fractions, mixed fractions and improper fractions.
I had to convert improper fractions to mixed numbers using my multiplication facts.
I thought we didn't need to add the left over fraction(numerator) at the start but now I think differently.
My next step is to try and divide the numerator by the denominator instead.

All About Mount Taranaki

I am learning to write a information report about Mount Taranaki. I was able to write 4 paragraphs about different topics of Mount Taranaki. I found it easy to explain the different positives Mount Taranaki had. My next step is to make more than 4 informational paragraphs  about an different and more interesting topic.

Parts of Speech- Nouns

I am learning about nouns.
I was able to fill the gasps with suitable nouns.
I found  circling the nouns simple.
My next step is to complex nouns.

ANZAC acrostic poem

We have been learning about ANZAC so I did a ANZAC acrostic poem.
I found it easy to figure out what goes with the letter A.
I found it challenging to figure out what goes with the letter Z.

Identify The Main Idea

Today I discovered how to identify the main idea.
I was able to tell what the details help me understand the main idea.
I really admire how fast I knew what the main idea was about.
I hope that I can figure out the main idea of a full story.

All About Me

Reflection:

I am learning to write about myself.
I was able to write 4 paragraphs because I am doing these things frequently.
My next step is to write some more detailed paragraphs.
I keep thinking about the time my friends helped me to be more braver.

Bar Graphs

I was able to identify parts of the graph.
This was easy because I found labelling a graph quite simple, but also found this hard to interpret the data.
My next step is to try and collect data from a bigger chart. 

Welcome Post 2019

Welcome to my learning blog for year 5 in 2019. This year my teacher is Miss D'Souza.
I really enjoy reading books, singing and drawing. My favourite animal is a cheetah or a cat. My goal for this year is trying to work my personal best on spelling because my opinion is that there are heaps of different words that are hard to spell. I hope you like my blog and leave some feedback for me.
