Summarising Texts

Reflection:
We have been learning to summarise by finding the main ideas in a text. The diagram above shows how we identified the main ideas. Something I enjoyed was labelling the main ideas. Something I found tricky was finding the words that were repeated over and over again. The clues are the title, illustrations, words that are repeated over and over again, first and last sentence. Next time I will make sure I read the story a few times so I find all the clues.

Statistics

Mokomoko

Reflection:

We are learning about slinks and lizards because we are taking care of our lizard garden. I enjoyed picking the photo of the lizard/gecko.
Something I found tricky was to label my lizard with facts. Next I will add more detail with my labelling.

                                                                                                             91 Banana Road                                                                                                                                         Fruit Valley
                                                                                                             0000

                                                                                                         13 March 2018
      Dear mum and dad,
I can hear soft splashes. I can see the beautiful blue sky.  When I'm splashing sometimes the salty
gets in my mouth. I can smell the clean and fresh breeze. Sometimes on windy days the sand gets
in my mouth too. I can smell food eaten by people that they brought. When i put my hands on the
soft sand it tickles my fingers. People are laughing and giggling. I see people tanning in the bright
sunny sun. There are pretty colourful shells shining brightly. I get in the water there are spiky shells
hurting my foot. Giant waves are splashing up and down. I see cooler boxes that are cold as  ice.
                                                                                                                                                                            Where am I?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    From,

Reflection:                                                                                                                                                  We have been learning to describe a setting using our five senses. I enjoyed making my plan because  it was fun drawing the lines and I love writing.  Something I found tricky was adding lots of detail to my story with senses. Next time I will remember to add more ideas for sight.
