Cheetahs

Reflection:

I have been learning to write information texts.
I can look for information and write it in my own words.
Next I plan to add more detail and information when I'm explaining.

Estimate

Reflection:

Today I found out how to estimate.
I have learnt how to estimate now because I didn't know what the meaning of estimate was and I am glad I learnt something new.
I still wonder if I could do more tricky numbers when I estimate.

Making Inferences

Reflection:

I have been learning how to infer ( make a inference ).
I can now infer with my background knowledge and my text clues.  That helps me make an inference.
I wish to use more detail and information for the reason why I thought that was the answer.

Place Value Partitioning

Today I found out how to do place value partitioning.
I am most proud of how I learnt a new strategy and I did my work very quickly.
Next time I will subtract bigger numbers like thousands.

Nonsense Poem

Breaking news!

Here is the news
Loads of boxes,Loads of boxes.
Boring old brown, cardboard boxes.

Those  items are so boring

The rain is pouring.

They are  small

like a doll.

They are big
like a pig.

They are so lifeless

they are brainless.

That's so old

that's gonna mold.

This is so dusty

they are getting rusty.

That's the news.
Loads of boxes,
loads of boxes
That's the news.

Today I explored how to make a nonsense poem with rhymes.
I got a lot better at making rhymes because I struggled making rhymes in the past.
I would have to liked to use more rhymes because  all the rhymes I used made my nonsense poem  more interesting.

Making inferences

Today I discovered how to make inferences.
I got a lot better at making inferences because, in the past I didn't read between the lines properly.
I wish I added more information to my inference.

Summarising Texts

Reflection:
We have been learning to summarise by finding the main ideas in a text. The diagram above shows how we identified the main ideas. Something I enjoyed was labelling the main ideas. Something I found tricky was finding the words that were repeated over and over again. The clues are the title, illustrations, words that are repeated over and over again, first and last sentence. Next time I will make sure I read the story a few times so I find all the clues.

Statistics

Mokomoko

Reflection:

We are learning about slinks and lizards because we are taking care of our lizard garden. I enjoyed picking the photo of the lizard/gecko.
Something I found tricky was to label my lizard with facts. Next I will add more detail with my labelling.

Mystery letter

                                                                                                             91 Banana Road                                                                                                                                         Fruit Valley
                                                                                                             0000

                                                                                                         13 March 2018
      Dear mum and dad,
I can hear soft splashes. I can see the beautiful blue sky.  When I'm splashing sometimes the salty
gets in my mouth. I can smell the clean and fresh breeze. Sometimes on windy days the sand gets
in my mouth too. I can smell food eaten by people that they brought. When i put my hands on the
soft sand it tickles my fingers. People are laughing and giggling. I see people tanning in the bright
sunny sun. There are pretty colourful shells shining brightly. I get in the water there are spiky shells
hurting my foot. Giant waves are splashing up and down. I see cooler boxes that are cold as  ice.
                                                                                                                                                                            Where am I?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    From,

Reflection:                                                                                                                                                  We have been learning to describe a setting using our five senses. I enjoyed making my plan because  it was fun drawing the lines and I love writing.  Something I found tricky was adding lots of detail to my story with senses. Next time I will remember to add more ideas for sight.
