Why the robots wanted Roz

Greenhouses

Last week on a lovely Monday afternoon Room 18 made some greenhouses that we made out of green A4 paper for our pinto beans.  Pinto means spotty.  We got our green A4 paper and also a small white paper.  The white paper was for us to trace around it so it could be a perfect square.  We next made a roof.  The

roof could be a dome shape or a triangle shape.  Then we used the colourful markers and start decorating our greenhouses.  Then Daniel handed me some blue tack and he said to put them on the corner of my own greenhouse.  Miss Lister asked Daniel to ask Miss Kim if we could borrow some tape all because Miss Lister didn't have any more.  Daniel came back with a roll of tape and we had to tape our plastic bag to our greenhouse.  Then we stuck it on Room 18's window.  I enjoyed watching them grow.

I think its interesting how the birds fly in a v  formation.  I learnt that bears eat lots before the winter time that they sleep.

I am learning about adding the money together. It was pretty easy to add them up.  I know how to add them up because I first looked t the tens place and I add all the tens.  Then I added the ones.

I am learning about contractions.  Contractions mean like two words crashed to one.  If two letters are missing you don't put two apostasies.

Speed and agility

Yesterday Room 18 went to the field and did youth town with Nina and Karen our coaches for youth town.  We are learning about speed and agility.  First we did a warm up.  The equipment are ladders, cones, hurdles, and agility poles.  First we had to use our tiptoes in each squad to make sure we are not touching the edges.  After that we did the hurdles.  We had to do the bunnies  hop for it.  We had to do two bunnies hops.  Then we had to do agility poles.  We had to bend our legs so we can balance.  Finally we played cat and the mouse.  First we had to get in two groups.  One group is the cat and one group is the mouse.  The cat has to try and tag the mouse.  If the mouse runs away safely the group get a point.  I like doing the cat and mouse game.

It was hard to understand how you do it ( it was under harder).

Plurals s and es

I know how because if they have s x z ch sh at the end you put es at the back. The rest that don't have those letters at the back you put the s t the back. It also have to be a noun with the es.

Today we are making a nest with a egg in it ( gosling is fake).  

First we had to write what we have in it and how many there are.  Then we drew our container with our tissues, twigs, paper rolls, cartons and eggs.  After that we got our container. Miss Lister said if you want two cartons you come to her now. She did the same thing to the people that want one carton. Then we all went outside the classroom and picked the leaves and twigs.  Then Miss Lister told us to come back in.  We went inside the classroom and put our leaves and twigs inside the container.

At the moment it is conservation week.

Conservation week is a week that we protect and look after

birds in NZ.  The bellbird is a endemic bird.  It lives everywhere

in NZ.  The song sounds like bells.  The predators are rats and stoats .

The bellbird eats nectar from flowers and insects.

Maori Language Week

 It was Maori Language Week and we were learning about how to  say the numbers and emotions.  It was hard to remember what is the emotion.   I thought the easy part is remembering the numbers in Maori.

It was burning HOT!!!  I am proud of my running skills.  It was a nice and sunny day to run.

It was tricky to find the 'uh' sound  and easy to find the 'er' because we learnt lots of with 'er' but have not learnt the'uh' sound.

I found it really easy to remember 

the new zealand cash because it had numbers 

on the cash so we know and the cents and the dollars

have small numbers that I can see but it is just a little hard to see.

Spelling:The 'oo' sound

It was easy to do the 'oo' and 'oul' and 'u' sound.

Matariki chalk stars

We was learning to make chalk stars.

We had to fold the star so it looks like it is popping

up out of the black paper.We used colour marker to write outside of

the star about Matariki. We used chose 2 colours to put around the star and border 

We smudged it and wrote our name.

Writing:Explanation

Its is important to wear your shoes because when you walk outside. It stops mud and moss getting on your feet and the spread of germs in the house.


I was learning to write an explanation.I know to use my ideas from plan.It was easy to think of ideas about each topic.

I was learning to make equal groups with 6 jars and lots/little orange dots.The group that was easy for me was the ones you only have to write 1,2,3,4.I can now make 1,2,3,4,5,6.The most hardest ones was 4,5,6 for me.

I was learning to say whats in the story and what happen to my self.It was hard to make a text to self connection.

Baking ANZAC biscuits.

Today was really cool.We made ANZAC biscuits with our writing groups.I held the bowl so they could not spill the oats on the table then they added in the oats in and I also mixed the batter.At the end we roll the batter into a bowl and it smell so so yummy.This was a amazing day at school Mrs Lister and Mrs Wolstenholme helped  us with the batter/ANZAC biscuits.

I was learning to find the th digraph words.I learnt how to find the th digraph words with a t. It was easy to find the th words  at the start of the word.There were some th words in the front and some at the middle at at the end of the words.

I was learning to talk about the main idea in a story.
I can give 3 examples to more information. It was tricky to type the 3rd example.It was easy to type the main idea.

I was learning to find words with short vowel sounds. I know how to listen for the short u sound.It was tricky to type I could not think of any only a few.It was easy to do the short letter a because I thought of lots.
